Apply knowledge and experience of Advanced Process Control for industrial automation, interest and aptitude in Artificial Intelligence, research, and engineering skills to play a lead technical role in the R&D team for development of breakthrough software innovations for Honeywell’s flagship Industrial Automation systems towards Autonomous Operations.
**KEY AREAS OF REPONSIBILITY**
+ Develop and exploit advanced technology including AI and other technology to make a significant contribution to innovation and new product development of Industrial Automation system that is deployed to Honeywell’s global customers in a range of industries
+ Apply research to conceive and develop the architecture and design of novel software systems solution for moving from Automation to Autonomy in the Industrial Process Industries as a key member of the R&D team
+ Work closely with the User Experience Design team, Software Systems Architecture team and Software Development team to develop new forms of Human Machine Interaction for autonomous operations in Industrial Plants
+ Working in the Australia Based Honeywell Software Centre, you’ll also work as part of the Honeywell global Industrial Automation engineering community
**QUALIFICATIONS/ EXPERIENCE/ KNOWLEDGE**

+ Education / Qualifications : Masters or PHD preferred in Computer Science, Engineering and AI applied to Industrial Automation
+ Experience : > 10 years’ experience
+ Deep domain knowledge of Industrial Process control systems and Advanced Process control for continuous process industries.
+ Practical real world field experience of applying Industrial automation systems and Advanced Process control for end customers
+ Knowledge of and experience applying various Artificial Intelligence technologies in real world applications, Understands the challenges and pitfalls of AI as well as the opportunities when applied to Industrial automation.
+ Experience in global R&D environment for new Product Development preferred
+ Experience as principal researcher / investigator in a university setting or has worked closely with universities would be highly valued
+ Experience in domains such as aviation, robotics, and autonomous vehicles is valued
+ Experience in applying AI for control, sensing and vision systems is valued
**BEHAVIOUR COMPETENCIES**
+ Strong problem-solving skills & technical acumen, able to develop solutions for complex engineering problems
+ Ability to meet challenging milestones to meet business goals
+ Ability to work with customers and Honeywell stakeholders to invent, design and deliver solutions with good communication skills
+ Innovation and Creativity : able to conceive novel solutions and experience with generating Intellectual Property disclosures
+ Ability to lead and influence
