Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the O&M Tech – Electrical, Instrumentation and Controls performs and/or coordinates the preventative and corrective maintenance activities related to the electrical systems, instrumentation and control components, and Continuous Emissions Monitoring System throughout the facility.
You will contribute to our team by:
- Performing 550kV, 4160V, and 480V electrical systems maintenance (consistent with NEC electrical safety practices) and/or supervising outside contractors in the performance of such work including the development of work scope and bid analysis.
- Diagnosing and repairing electrical systems and equipment such as transformers, relays, switches, control, generator monitoring and control systems, medium and high voltage distribution systems and monitoring devices.
- Diagnosing and repairing the cause of instrument and control system malfunctions including transmitters, programmable logic controllers (PLCs), Distributed Control Systems, instrument loops, flow meters, pressure probes, temperature probes, level probes.
- Conducting comprehensive analysis into electrical/instrumentation component and system issues and resolving practically and effectively.
- Possessing knowledge and competency of all applicable Electrical/Instrumentation codes and best practices.
- Providing technical input into the improvement and optimization of plant electrical/instrumentation systems and processes.
- Accurately assessing the risk of equipment deficiencies and pursuing proactive measures for maintaining plant reliability.
- Fully supporting the use of a Computerized Maintenance Management System (Maximo) by philosophy. Performing CMMS data entry and work order close-out in a thorough and timely fashion.
- Performing capital project and/or major program responsibilities as assigned by the Maintenance Manager.
- Being responsible for maintaining detailed records of instrumentation repairs and calibrations.
- Actively participating and contributing to safety programs and initiatives.
- Coordinating the updates of drawings and prints as required.
- Creating and maintaining effective relationships amongst team and other groups in the plant.
- Collaborating with Corporate and other external stakeholders for efficient resolution to complex issues.
- Maintaining Operations fully informed of unusual conditions and current job progress as the job relates to facility operations.
What you will bring to the role:
Education:
- Completed High School Diploma required.
- Instrumentation and Electrical School preferred.
- Associate or higher degree in Industrial Electronics, Electronic Instrumentation, or equivalent engineering studies is preferred.
Experience and Skills:
- 5+ years in an industrial/power industry setting as an Electrical/Instrumentation Controls Technician.
- Experience with high, medium and low voltage switchgear and transformers is preferred.
- Experience with DeltaV DCS preferred.
- Experience with Maximo CMMS or equivalent preferred.
- Experience with GE MkVie turbine control system is preferred.
- Experience with CISCO/VIMS CEMS and DAHS systems preferred.
- Able to demonstrate a working knowledge of medium and High voltage electrical equipment including hardware drawings and protection devices.
- Able to demonstrate a working knowledge of electrical preventive maintenance procedures.
- Able to demonstrate journeyman level knowledge in E/I field.
- Ability to read, understand, and comply with all regulatory and facility safety procedures.
- Ability to read and understand P&IDs, Electrical one-line & three line diagrams.
- Able to meet plant site qualification standards.
- Basic computer skills.
- Understanding of 40CFR Part 75 and Part 60 environmental regulations desired.
- Ability to operate a forklift and aerial lift is desired.
Working Conditions:
- Heavy industrial facility designated as a safety sensitive location.
- Physical mobility, including lifting and climbing, and ability to use PPE required.
Additional Details:
The pay range for this position is $53.70 to $56.40. The specific rate will depend on the successful candidate’s qualifications and prior relevant experience.

As this is a safety sensitive position, clearance of a pre-employment drug test is required, subject to applicable law.
