The Dispatcher is responsible for the coordination of communications between management/office personnel and outside entities/customers to field personnel. This involves analyzing information and resources to determine the necessary incident coverage and notification.

**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS**

This position requires a minimum of one year of dispatching work experience or equivalent in natural gas utility or related field.

This position must possess strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers, in addition to outside agencies. This position must also have the ability to work independently with minimal supervision and be able to prioritize workload, multi-task, have a thorough knowledge of other Southwest Gas departments, plus job knowledge of department-applicable practices and procedures, have the ability to read and interpret maps, must possess complex problem-solving skills, have the ability to make quick and accurate decisions and work under pressure and must have the ability to adapt to changes in technology and processes.

**TYPICAL JOB FUNCTIONS**

+ Perform emergency dispatch procedures

+ Maintain documentation of emergency incidents

+ Responsible for dispatching field personnel, as well as complying with the various department procedures

+ Maintain knowledge and compliance of Company policy and procedures

+ Understand and operate various computers and computer programs

+ Promote customer relations with internal and external customers

+ Monitor field personnel using GPS, radio, cell phones and landline; remaining in constant communication until incident is complete

+ Record and monitor all gas odor calls

+ Coordinate, communicate and monitor all field resources to complete emergency calls

+ Monitor and assign daily workload using a field resource management system

+ Monitor electronic line locates

+ Comprehend and initiate action to apply procedures appropriate to the situation in time-critical, deadline-driven environment without direct supervision

+ Research and provide information for post incident reviews and data requests

+ Perform other duties as assigned

+ Regular and predictable attendance is a condition of employment and is an essential function of the job

**SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS**

+ Meet and maintain the physical requirements of the position.

+ Must be able to be on-call.

+ Must be able to be contacted and respond for emergency duty when on-call.

+ Must respond to base location or emergency site within one hour when on-call.

+ Must possess a valid driver’s license.

+ Must be available to perform shift work, staggered workweek, including recognized holidays.

+ Must be available to work overtime.

+ Must be able to work in another location, district, or department.

+ Must be able to participate in applicable training programs, i.e., field rides, formal training, etc.

+ Must successfully complete all aspects of required training.

+ Must comply with Company rules of general conduct, Company policies and procedures.

This position is regulated by the Department of Transportation (DOT) under Title 49 CFR Part 382 and Part 40. Any applicant/employee who performs a DOT covered function or is licensed and would operate a commercial vehicle for the Company will be subject to drug and alcohol testing under the Company’s DOT drug and alcohol testing programs. Any employment, transfer, or promotion offer made for this position is contingent upon taking and passing a drug test prior to the commencement of the new role. If an applicant/employee fails the drug test, any offer of employment, transfer, or promotion will be revoked.

**SALARY DETAILS**

Phoenix: $34.63 - $46.86
