As a Materials Engineering Laboratory Technician here at Honeywell, you will provide support for new and existing products including aerospace gas turbine engines used for propulsion and auxiliary power. You will be working in a metallurgical laboratory performing materials characterization, failure analysis, chemical processing and metallurgical processes will be preferred. The main customers of this position are the Honeywell’s engineering, manufacturing, and Advanced Technology units

You will have technical skills that include a broad understanding of materials, processing, and applications. You will understand mechanical and design requirements for aerospace components. You will have effective communication and participation on teams with considerable focus on manufacturing and design and materials testing.

Key Responsibilities

+ Materials characterization through metallurgical and chemical means

+ Coordinating/conducting materials testing using internal and third-party suppliers

+ Hands-on operation of Metallurgical Lab equipment including hardness testers, metallography equipment, and digital and scanning electron microscopes

U.S. PERSON REQUIREMENTS

Due to compliance with U.S. export control laws and regulations, candidate must be a U.S. Person, which is defined as, a U.S. citizen, a U.S. permanent resident, or have protected status in the U.S. under asylum or refugee status.

YOU MUST HAVE

+ High School Diploma or equivalent

+ Hands-on (course work included) experience working in a Metallurgical Laboratory characterizing and testing materials OR hands-on experience working at shot floor (manufacturing)

WE VALUE

+ Familiarity with metallic materials, i.e. corrosion resistant steels, aluminum, titanium, nickel and cobalt based alloys, etc

+ Ability to work in a cross-functional team of design engineers, project engineers, chief engineers, customer support, etc

+ Familiarity of SAE, AMS, ASTM and AWS specifications is of value

+ Peer collaboration and strong focus on meeting customer commitments
