BASIS Prescott is seeking qualified candidates for an Exceptional Student Services Instructional Assistant to start ASAP!

The role of the Exceptional Student Services Instructional Assistant (ESS Instructional Assistant) is to assist in all aspects of Special Education, 504, and EL Programs at the school’s site. Exceptional Student Services Assistants help maintain communication channels with parents, peers, and supervisors regarding all ESS items and provide paraprofessional support for individual students.

Required Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
Valid Identity Verified Prints (IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card and/or satisfactory applicable state background check.
Microsoft Office Suite.
Preferred Qualifications:

Passing score on applicable paraprofessional exam, CPI or TACT-2
1+ years with related special education job duties in a similar-sized school
Primary Job Responsibilities:

Plan implementation with special educational needs in general education settings such as classrooms, halls, lunchrooms, playgrounds, etc.
Provide paraprofessional or one-on-one support to individual students, as needed.
Help the ESS Coordinator in all aspects of implementing individualized education programs (IEPs) and 504 plans.
Work collaboratively with ESS Coordinator
Provide support to teaching staff.
Collect and maintain paperwork associated with IEPs and 504 plans and ensure confidentiality and integrity of student records and progress information.
Support the ESS Coordinator(s) by performing administrative and clerical tasks.
Maintain regular, full, predictable attendance.
Supervise individual students and/or groups of students.
Reinforce and reteach concepts introduced by special education teachers.
Provide instructional interventions and academic support to individual students or small groups.
Other duties as assigned.

Position Overview:

The Instructor possesses knowledge in the field of Computer Science. They get to know each student, encouraging and influencing each one of them on an individual basis, while innovating, collaborating and creating technology. They are responsible for creating a fun and learning experience for students to achieve and master the iCode belt system or STEM camps. They deliver each instructional session while evaluating the progress of each student in the program.

This position offers year-round opportunities, with part-time hours during the school year and the potential for full-time work over the summer as we expand our camp offerings. We’re looking for someone eager to grow with us, take on a leadership role in summer programs, and make a lasting impact on our students’ learning experiences.

Key Responsibilities
● Teach and educate students according to guidelines provided by iCode.
● Manage an orderly classroom at all times.
● Provide meaningful feedback about class material and student dynamics in the classroom in weekly status reports.
● Assess, record and report on the development, progress, attainment and behavior of students.
● Provide weekly communication and updates to parents on a cadence.

● Maintain exceptional classroom standards.

Qualifications
● Knowledge of one or more Computer Science programming languages and/or technologies.
● Experience working with computers, devices and different operating systems.
● Positive attitude, outgoing and excellent people skills.

● Good written and verbal communication skills.
● Ability to work with students ranging from K-12.
● Strong problem–solving and analytical skills.
● Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
● Being able to perform well under pressure.
● High school diploma required.
● Pursuing career in Computer Science required.
● Exceptions can be made for students who are graduates of the iCode Program.
● Exception also for exceptional students in High School with a career focus in Computer Science and active leadership role in a high school STEAM club.

QUALIFICATIONS:
 Must possess at least 60 post-secondary semester hours or AA degree.
 Must have verifiable work experience of at least one year in academic tutoring.
 Must possess effective tutorial skills in an academic setting.
 Must be knowledgeable of academic skills; i.e., study skills, time management skills, and organizational skills.
 Must possess a functional knowledge of school credit guidelines.
 Must have verifiable work experience with tutoring high school students.
 Current certification in First Aid and CPR
 Valid Arizona driver’s license.
 Current Arizona and Navajo Nation motor vehicle driving record on file
 Must pass criminal background checks by state, federal and Navajo Nation
 As a minimum qualification, applicant's background checks must demonstrate successful, positive, multi-year employment and performance of duties at each of applicant's last 3 employment positions.
 Must be knowledgeable and familiar with Navajo language, culture and people.

▪ Must be a certified teacher with an emphasis in either Math, English, Sciences, and Social Sciences.
▪ Must have verifiable teaching experience.

▪ Must be knowledgeable of academic skills; i.e., study skills, time management skills, and organizational skills to improve academic performance.
▪ Must possess a functional knowledge of school credit guidelines.
▪ Current certification in First Aid and CPR
▪ Valid Arizona driver’s license.
