    The Department of Global Languages and Cultures (GLC) seeks candidates who will contribute to departmental efforts to advance programs, teaching, and learning to serve our student population. Northern Arizona University is a Hispanic-Serving Institution, and GLC oversees the Modern Languages BA with emphases in French, German, Japanese and Spanish and the Interdisciplinary Global Program (dual majors with STEM, business and psychology degrees), and minors in Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, and Spanish, with courses in Navajo, along with an MAT, BA and BSEd in Spanish.     About the Position

    This position is posted as Assistant Teaching Professor in Spanish Language and Program Coordinator for Interdisciplinary Global Programs (IGP), which is a working title. The NAU system title for this position is Assistant Teaching Professor.

    The Department of Global Languages and Cultures (GLC) is searching for a full-time, benefit eligible, non-tenure eligible Assistant Teaching Professor position that is mainly teaching courses in English and Spanish and part administration as the Program Coordinator for Interdisciplinary Global Programs (IGP) in the College of Arts and Letters. This position is renewable on a year-to-year basis contingent upon performance, departmental needs, and university funding. Position will be based on the Northern Arizona University Flagstaff Mountain Campus.

    IGP is an innovative dual degree program where students pair a STEM, business, or psychology degree with a language/culture degree. During their 4th year, students complete an immersion year abroad doing a semester of coursework and a semester of internship in their subject area. This position is a non tenure track 9 month (Academic year) faculty position

    Responsibilities Include:

    • Teaching includes:

    • Teaching classes in English (LAN 250, LAN 340)
    • Teaching classes in Spanish (SPA 311, SPA 312W, SPA 408, LAN 450C, and others in area of expertise)

    • IGP Program Coordinator duties:

    • Leading the coordination of faculty mentors' language checkpoint assessments across all six language offerings in IGP (Spanish, Japanese, French, German, Chinese, and Italian), which includes onboarding/training new mentors.
    • Overseeing the Modern Languages curricular components that IGP students complete abroad such as internship/fieldwork experience (SPA 408) and course equivalencies.
    • Serving as a member of the IGP Faculty Council.
    • Communicating regularly with GLC faculty about IGP programming/events, updates, and student successes.
    • Meeting bi-weekly with the IGP staff.
    • Maintaining the IGPgoEpic Canvas Shell's language checkpoint component.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Ph.D. in Spanish (Applied) Linguistics/Second Language Acquisition or related field conferred by August 1, 2025.
    • 2 years of teaching experience at the post-secondary level.

    About the Position

    The NAU Kitt School of Music seeks a dynamic, creative, collaborative, and dedicated teacher of clarinet. Secondary teaching will be commensurate with departmental needs and candidate qualifications. This is a 9 month non tenure track academic year position.

    Responsibilities Include:

    • Teach applied clarinet and related areas (bass clarinet and other auxiliary clarinet instruments, woodwind methods, chamber music, literature, pedagogy) to undergraduate and graduate music majors and minors.
    • Teach in a secondary area of expertise, such as music theory, music literature, music education, or introductory general studies in music (Western classical or popular genres).
    • Recruit outstanding students.
    • Perform with Kitt School of Music faculty in chamber music settings.
    • Committee and service assignments consistent with all faculty appointments.

    This position is an on-site position which requires the incumbent to complete their work primarily at an NAU site, campus, or facility with or without accommodation. Opportunities for remote work are rare.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Master's degree in Performance.
    • Five years of experience performing clarinet in professional symphonic, wind band, chamber, and/or solo settings
